Sixteen years ago Norma Romero-Mitchell had trouble finding a role model in the financial services business, so she became one herself. Her tenacity and entrepreneurial vision led her to found Benefits Plus Consulting Group, Inc., the Philadelphia-based financial services firm now celebrating its second decade in business.

A native New Yorker and Cornell graduate, she left successful careers on Wall Street and executive positions in the insurance industry to become an active member of the Philadelphia community in various arenas. As CEO and President of Benefits Plus, Norma has made it her mission to empower women and minorities in effective resource management and financial planning strategies for a secure future.

Under her leadership, she has tripled BP’s revenues by focusing on the burgeoning field of benefits. Her acknowledged expertise in the areas of financial planning, employee benefits consulting, and investment management has attracted large and small clients from municipal and corporate entities to individuals and private businesses. She has made the special needs of diverse, multi-cultural workforces, and retiree populations a targeted priority.

In operating her business, she maintains high standards of excellence and personalized services to clients, goals which she applies to herself and her diverse staff, earning a lifetime membership in the National Registry of “Who’s Who”. She participates in select speaking engagements and shares her industry expertise with national and regional radio and television audiences, most notably on the show “Money Matters”.

Her volunteer contributions to non-profit organizations at the local and national levels as former Board President of the Pennsylvania Chapter of ASPIRA and Advisory Board Member of Educating Young Minds, in addition to the fundraising activities of North Philadelphia Health Systems and the Jeanne Ruddy Dance Group, give ample evidence of pride in her Latina roots and commitment to “giving back” to the community at large.
